What is the best 4x agp video card out there?

As far as *I* am aware of the NVIDIA GeForce6200 is the best AGP 4x that is available

Will a 4x agp vga video card work with an 8x motherboard?

yes it will work just fine....the only difference is the bandwidth....

Prior to 1997, a PC’s graphics card was limited to a measly 133 MB/s of bandwidth. Then came the AGP slot with 266 MB/s, followed by AGP 2x with 533 MB/s, AGP 4x with 1,066 MB/s, and finally AGP 8x with 2,133 MB/s of potential bandwidth.

Scott|||Yes|||Yes it is backwards compatible!|||Sure it will but dont expect to play the latest games on it|||Better question: why are you trying to resurrect something as old as agp? :P

In answer to your question, yes.

I have a Asus P4SP-MX motherboard. I am not sure if my AGP 4x will provide enough (V) to run the video card?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3570059&CatId=2234

Thats the card. its a HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT IceQ Turbo video card

I would like to know if it would function properly on my motherboard |||That card will definitely run on your motherboard. However, the card is a pretty fast 8X AGP card. It may be a bit bottlenecked by the 4X AGP slot. You may not realize the full potential of the card, possibly only about 80% of maximum performance.

Will an 8x video card work in a 4x slot?

It's an AGP 8x card and my slot is a 4x. It's also 256mb, geforce.

My friend told me I had to disable my onboard video chip, or something. Was wondering if that was the case. Also if the card failed after I disabled my video card, would I be able to re-enable the chip with no video card/chip running? Thanks in advance.|||The speed of the video card does not matter. If it is an AGP video card, it can be installed into the AGP slot.

Most mainboards will detect the presence of a video card and automatically disables the built-in video adapter. If the video card is removed, the mainboard will revert back to the built-in video adapter.

If the mainboard does not do this automatically, you can enable or disable the built-in video adapter in the BIOS setup. You can re-enable the built-in video adapter after disabling it.|||Yes.

What type of video card would be the best for my computer my friend told me it takes agp 4x?

the site i was told to check out is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=agp+4x&x=0&y=0

so i was wondering which one to pick im willing to spend about $150 will spend more if necessary but would prefer significant lag decrease in online games like World of Warcraft thanks for your time|||Lag is a function of your network connection and distance from the server, not the video card. But if you are experiencing low framerates, a video card upgrade is what you need.

AGP 4x limits you to older video cards, I believe one of the best ones ever made for that bus was the GeForce 6800 GT.

The most important stat in video cards is the one seldom published: the pixel pipeline architecture. 128 or 256 or 512 MB video RAM does not matter nearly as much as 8 or 12 or 16 pixel pipes.

the Geforce 6800 GT comes with 16 pixel pipes. But here's a trick, you can do what I did, and order a regular geforce 6800, which comes with 12 pipes open, and use Rivatuner to modify it to use the remaining 4 which are turned off by default. It's actually the same card as the GT and you can save a pretty penny. I got mine for 100 bucks on Ebay and modding it was extremely easy, and it still works fine to this day.

My MOBO has AGP 8x but I see no reason why it wouldn't also work on 4x.

One thing I should note is that once I opened up the remaining pipelines, I found that the second monitor port stopped sending the red signal, resulting in color abberations, but since I don't use dual monitors I don't care. Just thought I'd let you know. You can always unmod it back the way it was if you change your mind, which will slow it down but give you dual monitors again.

And I agree with Anonymous X, make sure you have enough power.

Good luck!|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

this is the best, but you'll most likely have to upgrade your powersupply|||The best Gforce you can find.|||Any AGP card will work even if you get an AGP 8x as they are backwards compatible & will run at 4x without you even knowing it. Remember the video card is 1 of 3 major componants for smooth gameplay with CPU & RAM being the other 2 not counting internet connection if its an online(like WoW) game. For modern games like Bioshock & Crysis a good high GHz dual core CPU, 2GB of RAM & a modern high end video card are recomended. Seeing how you have an AGP bus your limeted on good modern cards but you can still get an older Nvidia 7900gs/gt or ATI x800xt that will work just fine, I like ATI but the X800xt is a SHADERMODEL 2.0 card while the 7900 is a SHADERMODEL 3.0 & most newer games require it. Newegg is a great place to buy & has great reviews that you can read to help you choose a good card. Again read the reviews on the cards as they will tell you if they are good or not.

Enjoy & game on!

Will an AGP 4x/8x video card work on my AGP 2x/4x system?

Will that [AGP 4x/8x] work on my AGP 2x/4x computer?|||yes, but you will be capped at 4x speed|||Yes, it will work...however your won't get maximum performance from the card.

Best video card for gameplay on a AGP 4x slot motherboard?

I have an ASUS P4VP-MX motherboard which uses AGP 4x slot. It say's on the manual that the slot supports 1.5v AGP 4x mode graphic cards.

I am looking to purchase the game Crysis which recommends that I have a video card greater than or equal to of the following:

Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Will my motherboard be able to support a video card that is capable of playing this video game?

What is the best Video card that I can purchase that supports this motherboard?

Btw I have an Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.4 GHz. And will be upgrading this later along with adding more RAM also.|||Try the Radeon HD 3850 AGP version|||This http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

You going to be able to play Crysis with any of the above.

Best AGP 4x Video Card?

I have a 4+ year old HP 864n Media Center computer with just a 4x AGP video slot. It came with a NVidia GForce4 MX440 video card and I was wondering what would be the best video card (around $100 or less) for this computer.|||check out www.newegg.com they have all of the computer stuff you would ever need! They still sell older agp cards too. Almost all 8x agp cards will "dummy" down to 4x so just find one in your price range. Check out some nvidia 6000 series cards or ati x800 series (those should be in range)

if you can find better ones get them! i think the nvidia 7000 series and above would be a little more than $100 though.

Can i put an 8x video card with a 128 mb to a 4x agp slot?

i have an ECS P4vmm2 motherboard, i want to upgrade my graphics since im using the built-in video card, i bought a 128mb AGP video card with a 8x speed, is it possible to run it smoothly on my AGP slot with only 4x of the speed? or will my AGP slot overheat and burn it?|||sure u can put it in a 4x slot since all cards are backward compatible..only thing is that the card will work at 4x speed not 8x..dont worry as far as AGP slot overheating is concerned...|||Look at this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated…

As I understand it, if the card fits, you can do that, and it will probably fit.|||Sure, you will just not get the *x performance that you want!!|||Well, first, what voltage is it!!! A guy in our PC shop blew up a NEW ASUS board AND the AGP Card, doing just that!!!

Always go to BOTH websites FIRST, and check with SUPPORT techs!

Will this video card work on a agp 4x slot?

will this video card work on an agpx4 slot heres link:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3053804&CatId=933 and heres my specs because i dont know if my professor is good enofgh for the card:1.7ghz pentium 4,512mb ram.agp 4x slot|||Yes it should be OK, as AGP 8x is backwards compatible with AGP 4x. The FX5200 was one of the last cards to have 3.3v support, meaning that it's compatible with even the original 3.3v AGP 1x.

And the processor should be fine too. This is very old and dated hardware now, though. I really wouldn't bother, I'd upgrade to a newer system with a PCI Express videocard slot..|||it will work but will only run at 4x instead of 8x id recommend upgrading the system but to answer your question yes it will work|||No.

It needs an AGP 8x slot.

Do i have to use the AGP slot or can i leave it empty and use a pci video card?

well its pretty self explanatory. i have a board that requires a AGP 4x card (that i don't have), so can i leave it empty and use a PCI video card|||Your board doesnt "require" an AGP 4x card. It is there for the option if you want an AGP card in the future..

You can use a PCI video card without the AGP being occupied.

Note this tho...

This is different for each motherboard but... usually the onboard video(if your mobo has one) is AGP so when your computer starts up it will look for AGP and therefore nothing will show on ur screen unless you plug in the monitor to the onboard AGP... soo (go to ur bios and change AGP to PCI)

Obviously this maybe automatic/or different depending on your Motherboard..|||yh u can might need 2 change it in bios tho

If I were to buy a "TV ATI 4x Video AGP Radeon 9250 256MB DVI HI VGA Card" will it work with an AGP 4x slot?

Wondering which graphics card to buy.

I have an HP Pavillion 753n if it matters.|||With the proper driver, that card should work, but card is weak and quite outdated. I would rather recommend newer cards that have better HD video capability and support for latest Shader model. Consider the cheap ATI HD 2400 Pro or XT or the better performing HD 2600 Pro or XT. Just be sure to get the AGP variant.

Will a AGP 4x/8x video card work in a 4x AGP slot?

Does that mean that it will work with either a agp 4x or 8x?|||yes|||That's correct, it will work in either slot.|||Depends on your BIOS. Usually yes. Occaisionally AGP slots can be proprietary, but most mboards will step down the AGP card to the capabilities of the on-board BIOS. Pay attention to voltage required by your card and ensure your mboard will support through the required slot.|||Probably but there are limits to compatibility. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port|||Yes. check the BIOS settings.

for all Computer help visit:

http://computerhelp-downloads.blogspot.c…|||I don't see why not! But if you are handy with a screwdriver just open you PC and see if you could do that.

Nikolas S|||YES ! Your BIOS should auto detect the type and speed of your card. Just install it and boot up, also check your device manager in windows to make sure its working OK.|||yes...you can adjust the AGP bus speed in your bios...

Will an AGP 8x/4x Video Card work on a motherboard that supports AGP 4x ONLY?

I know an AGP 8x/4x card says "4x" (of course), but maybe the 8x part will cause it not to be compatible? I'm no newbie to computer hardware, I rather be safe than sorry. Thanks!|||It should work fine. 8x/4x means it's 8x, but also backward compatible with 4x systems.

Cheers :)|||yes, it means it will work on eihter|||yes must work|||Yes as I have actually had an 8x AGP video card work in a 2x motherboard quite successfully.|||It works, it'll just be set max at 4x AGP.

Can someone tell me what is the best video card upgrade for my AGP 8X/4X slot with a 1.6ghz cpu (2gb ram)?

Can someone tell me what is the best video card upgrade for my AGP 8X/4X slot with a 1.6ghz cpu (2gb ram)?|||best graphic card is always most expensive one = more money buys better horse

top of the line graphic cards have 512 kb memory on it

medium level have 256 kb of memory

- go to www.google.com

- in search box type AGP+graphic+cards

- magic comes - results are there

- go to web page and check them out - graphic cards need

to support yr operating system (windows, mac or linux),

operating system version number, cpu and ram and in yr

case AGP slot 8x/4x - check for that on web page before

you buy them - if you buy them in store specifications are

listed on the box|||So far the Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT AGP version card is the best i can only recommend you out there. If you have PCI-E x16, use it instead. But if you can afford to wait, however, you might want to see if AMD releases an AGP version of the Radeon HD 2900 XT.

Can I use an AGP 8x video card in a 4x spot?

While looking online for a new video card, some cards say 4x/8x, while other cards simply say just 8x.

Will the cards that say just "8x" work in a 4x spot?

I'm not a gamer, but I'm replacing my video card because it lags while playing videos.|||Vid card chart

Is the 256 MB ATI RADEON 9800XT AGP 4X/8X Video Graphics Card good enough to play Fallout 3 on PC?

I just bought the 256 MB ATI RADEON 9800XT AGP 4X/8X Video Graphics Card for my computer and I was wondering if it met minimum requirements.|||This graphics card does met minimum requirements for Fallout 3 and considering the just the chipset it is slightly better.

EVGA 128-A8-N303-L2 GeForce FX 5200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card question?

does this video card supports hardware transform and lighting?|||Yes it does. But don't count on it playing any game made in the last 3 or 4 years all that well. The GF5200 was considered slow when it first came out.

Would the EVGA 128-A8-N303-L2 GeForce FX 5200 128MB 64-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card work for age of empires 3?

i know age of empires is a 3-D game and the site where this video card is, says that this card doesn't work for 3 -D games would it really not work or would it still kinda work if you had enough RAM?|||all of them will work :D i think but go with the GEFORCE one :)

How can i use agp card at 4x bus speed?

my motherboard is gigabyte and model is GA-6VX7-4X. it has

1 x AGP slot supports 2X / 4X mode. im using nvidia geforce4 mx4000 video card. but it is showing bus speed 2x. how can i make it 4x for faster result?|||Oh yeah, I fought hard and long with it...

Well, when your PC is booting, quicly press "Delete" many times until you get in the "BIOS"

Choose the option "Bios features Setup" or something and finally look for "PCI / VGA Palette Snoop" then, you can change the "2x" for the "4x" and change the 64mb for the 128mb

(Remember, those names may change according with the motherboard model)

What kind of AGP video card should I be looking for?

I took a picture of my mother board:

http://img475.imageshack.us/my.php?image…

I know that my video card should be AGP. I went to wiki and search information for AGP video card. It said it has different types for AGP, like AGP 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, and like 1.5v and 3.3 v...... How do I know what type of AGP video card should I be looking for? Thanks.|||An 8x AGP card will work in a 4x AGP slot. So look for a standard issue 8x AGP card and you should be just fine.|||If you can provide me with the make & model of your motherboard, I should be able to help you out with that. Unfortunately, the picture didn't provide that information. All AGP cards use the same slot; it's the technology on the cards, and subsequently on the motherboard, that determine which one you need.|||Look at the specs for the make and model of your PC. It will tell you what speed your AGP slot is running at (most likely 4x if an older machine).

Then you can look for a video card, voltage wont matter as the card will use what it needs. You need to make sure the speed of the card is at or lower than the AGP slot (2x will work in 4x, etc).|||# Universal 0.8 V / 1.5 V AGP 3.0 connector supporting 1X, 4X, and 8X AGP cards or an

Your probably using the on board graphics and you want more performance. The 6800XT is a very good card but here is the problem.

AGP, the Advanced Graphic Port, is now defunct. If you spend money on this card you will not be able to transfer it into a newer PC when you upgrade. Literally all of the boards are now going with the PCI16 (bit). It is faster and costs less to manufacture. My advice to you if you are able would be to get one of the newer boards that support the PCI 16 (almost all) and an AMD 64 bit processor, the 3700 is a good one and you should be able to pick it up for about $80 on NewEgg.com or Tigerdirect.com. I used to work for INTEL and they had great products but have recently moved manufacturing overseas so there is no difference in AMD and INTEL quality anymore and the INTEL prices are still much higher and their hardware more selective. The board will run you anywhere from $45 to $85 dollars. Make sure that you get one that supports your 3200 memory. Most will support either the DDR (which is what you have) or the DDR2. Then buy yourself a PCI16 video card. Nvidia (that is the processor brand GeForce uses) are good, so are ATI. The amount of memory they have is only important if you have a really big monitor, otherwise the 128Meg will give you all of the performance you need. It’s the word width and the clock speed (128 or 256 bit) that gives you the speed for gaming performance. A card with 128 meg of memory will easily give you 1024 X 768 resolution at 32 bit color depth. Any smaller and you won’t be able to see the icons. These cards that are loaded with tons of memory are more of a marketing scheme than anything. If you can afford it, fine but another 512 meg of system memory would serve you better.

If you do decide to go with your original setup then pop open your case and look at your Power Supply. This particular card sucks a lot of current and requires its own dedicated plug. Not to scare you, just make sure that you have at the very least a 350watt PS, 400+ would be better.

Check out the upgrades I suggested. Go to Newegg.com and check the prices. I have been dealing with them for years and have never been dissatisfied. You will probably save 20 to 40 percent if you buy your card through them and can get it overnight if you want to spend a few extra bucks.

Good Luck|||Yes, you have the requirements|||you gave too much information about your computer. ;)

the answer to your question is YES

you might wonder, how did i come up with my answer.

For you to know if your graphic card is compatible with your system, you have to consider the following:

your RAM

the Graphic Slot (the two famous slot right now is AGP and PCI EXPRESS)

If you are planning to use your machine in some mind blasting games you must consider the following too:

your processor: "Sempron" can handle the games, but you might experience some problems with it after months of playing.. If you are on a tight budget but starving for a megadeath performance consider upgrading to AMD ATHLON XP 64 bit.

Your RAM isn't that bad, but 1GB wont make you cry for sure.

The video card that you just mention is powerful too, but PCI EXPRESS type of card with NVIDIA chipsets and 256mb of memory is like flying in the wind.

isn't it nice if you can write your own DVD's? add a DVD rewriter

now that's what you call COMPUTER!|||yes|||Yes it will support it. But if you are using it for gaming u need a different processor. That processor is not good enough with a GeForce. Processor has alot of affect with the graphics card. Get a better processor for that graphic card.

Will i get the performance out of EVGA 7800GS 256 MB video card using AGP 4X/8X interface?

I am planing to upgrade my video card. I want to know if i the AGP interface will let the 7800GS perform at its best? I read somewhere that the AGP interface has a limited transfer rate.|||Its true that the transfer rate is limited to 4 or 8X as PCI-E is twice or 4 times that at 16X but it is really only like 5-6% reduction overall. Some PCI-E boards are also 4 or 8X as well. My board is a cheap GIGABYTE running my PCI-E ATI X850XT PE 16X at 4X but still plays all my games flawlessly with an INTEL 2.8GHz dual core CPU & 2GB DDR2 PC4200 RAM. Dont worry about it, that 7800GS is a great card & should play all your games fine as long as you have the CPU & RAM to back it up.|||Sure, AGP has a slower transfer rate than PCI-express.

But, the 7800gs is not powerful enough to max out the AGP 8X bus anyhow, so it is not going to be an issue for you.

Can a Sony Vaio PCV-RS630G use an HIS Hightech ATI Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card?

I also have a 400 watt power supply. The computer is only about 3 years old. It has an AGP slot.

Sorry, I am really new to installing video cards. I know the difference between AGP, PCI and PCI-E but I have no clue if there are other things I need to consider before buying and installing the card. I am not too familiar with other terms such as 4x/8x. And have no clue if I need to know more about my motherboard or other parts of my computer before knowing if a video card will work.

Besides answering my basic question about if it will work, I would also really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to find this out for myself for future reference or tell me what needs to be done to make it work (if anything). Thank you very much in advance!|||just check and make sure your motherboard uses the agp standard instead of the new pci express.

the 4x/8x rate means it will work at those 2 speeds.

you can check the sony website for specs...i do all the time since i also have a sony vaio which i'm on right now.

thats a pretty good card too.

if you have lquid cooling like me, then there is not alot of room for add ons. the video card will be a tight fit and will almost overlap the next pci slot so plan accordingly. good luck!|||Yes, it has AGP8x slot.

Marketing Specifications

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-d…|||Nothing else you really need to consider. 8x is the speed of the card and slot. PCI is 1x, AGP can be 2x,4x, or 8x, and PCI-E is 8x or 16x. Any AGP card goes in any AGP slot, but if the slot is only 4x, and the card is 8x capable it will only run at 4x speed.

If i got a video card with an agp 8x interface, but my computer only had an agp 4x interface, would it work?

I want to get a new video card for my computer, its an older computer, i'm not sure how fast my agp interface is, so how can i figure that out, and will a card that runs on an 8x interface work on a computer that only has a 4x or 2x interface?|||It appears that the question period has expired. If you have received an answer that meets your needs, please choose a 'best answer.'

Would my AGP 4x video card work for todays games?

I just bought a motherboard from 2003. It has 2 gb's of memory, penteum 4, 512 of ram, max ram is 2 gbs. It comes with a brand new AGP 4x video card. Will it work for todays games?|||Simply.... NO................ todays video card come in PCI-E 2.0 16x slots....... yours is 4 times as slow at best!!!!

what do you mean by todays games??? u cannot play Call of Duty, Sims 3, Crysis, any intense shooter...... any high 3D games............. u can play.. all the games that came with your computer, counter-strike, age of empires, any game made before 2004|||>It comes with a brand new AGP 4x video card.

Bit of an oxymoron isn't it? AGP is definitely not new..

I don't think a computer from 2003 is going to handle any games made 2009.. its far too old to handle any recent games.

And your 2 GB hard drive is laughably small. A DVD can hold 2.5 times more data than your drive can -- there's no way you can install any games on that. The minimum requirement of most games nowadays is 20 GB.

Think it's time for a new desktop...

Can I use a AGP 8x video card with a 4x slot?

My motherboard has an AGP 4X slot, but I found a video card online with an AGP 8X interface.

Will the 8x video card work, and if it will work, will there be any performance lag while trying to stream online videos?|||8x will work in a 4x slot but will only run at 4x speed ... the graphics card isn't the main concern while streaming that is centred around your internet speed, CPU speed and RAM amount.

Is the Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card a good card, and is it well priced at $118???

I'm looking for a graphics card that can run TES:IV Oblivion at 1280:800 resolution with HDR on. The card is compatible with my machine, but i'm wondering if i'm buying the wrong card, or if there is a better one. I'm willing to spend up to $160, perhaps a LITTLE bit more if it's extremely worthwhile. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Also, past experience with the card would be HIGHLY welcome.

Link to newegg.com info page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102073|||The card it's good for that price but I would look for the one that as DDR3 VS DDR2 you will a better performance due to slower memory. if you want to go to the next level up go for the Radeon X1650 XT around $170

besides you are on the right direction with the money you have to spend|||I'd have to say go with the X1950Pro. It's $200, but definatly worth it. If you don't want to go that much over, then the X1650Pro is pretty good.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between a pci-e video card and a agp video card?

i have got a computer with a agp 4x slot and i am wondering if a pci-e video card will go into the same slot and work|||simple answer no pci express is different to agp|||no, pci-e (pci express) is a different slot type than agp. they are different shaped slots in the motherboard. only the newer motherboards have pci-e slots. if your motherboard only has an agp slot, then you can only install an agp slot type video card.

I want to upgrade AGP video card for a The Intel® Desktop Board D845GRG.?

What would be the recommend AGP card i could put in this computer.|||You have an older mother board all newer cards are 8x agp but most can run on your 4x board make sure the specs say 4x/8x in the description but you will not get the full use out of it but it will still do nicely for you . if you are into gaming go as high as you can for the money you have , but I would not spend much over a $100 for an older computer. this would be the highest I would go http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

or this one should do you well

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…|||any supported 4x agp card.|||You could go as high as a 7600GT or 7600GS AGP card

Can I use an AGP 8x card with a 4x shot?

Some video cards are listed online as "8x/4x" for their interface, while other cards say "8x".

Will the "8x" ones work, and if they will work, will there be any performance problems when trying to watch videos?|||Yes you can , but the card will run at 4x. Not at max performance ,but i think no problems for movies.|||Vid card chart

i have a Sony Vaio PCV-RS420 desktop.

Specs: AGP graphics card (ATI Radeon 9200)

i just want a nice, new video card that is able to play newer games without spending a lot of money.|||To answer your question the GPU (vid card) your looking at is somewhere between 9 to 10 inches long, so just measure your case with a ruler. Also the 4670 cant run new games, unless you plan on running plants vs zombies or some other stupid game. If I were you I would get a 5770 (150$) or a 4870 (150$) Although personally I have a powercolor 5770 (170$ with rebate on newegg.com) Just warning you that card probably can't even play mw2 at full settings.

What's the best AGP 4x video card currently on the market for running the Source Engine?

I have a Biostar M7VIB motherboard, and I need to upgrade it with the best possible video card currently on the market. This MoBo has an AGP 4x slot, and I'm looking for maximum performance possible with my old hardware just long enough to complete a project, because once it's complete I'll be given a Dell XPS laptop to work on from that point forward (provided my project is accepted).

So my question is two fold and please let me know to which question you're answering.

#1: What is currently the best AGP video card on the market for the Source engine (price IS NOT a factor)?

#2: What is currently the best "bang for the buck" AGP video card on the market for the Source engine (price IS a factor)?|||what source engine .. most 8X cards will work in a 4X slot .. maybe an nvidia 7900 agp ..|||This is true AGP 8x may work in 4x but some card may burn your mainboard bacause it use another power voltage :))

AGP Card 4x now only found in secondhand market and ebay. Geforce MX 440 is the last chip use AGP 4x.

I think with a AGP 4x you can't edit 2005-2006-2007 Games' file well. If you want work it that bad, i suggest you buy a new PC ( today a good and new PC isn't too expensive about 400$-500$ you can buy a good one which can use to edit 2005-2006 games' file well )

Good luck and have fun.

Addtional Info:

#2: What is currently the best "bang for the buck" AGP video card on the market for the Source engine (price IS a factor)?

Best bang of the buck Video card i know of Source Engine is Video Card With Chip Geforce 8800 GT ( not GTS) and > 250MB DDR3 and your can buy one at 100$-250$.

If you have money PC with Dual (SLI) (Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB DDR3) x2 will let you have outstanding work. :)|||Source is pretty flexible. A friend of mine managed to get HL2:EP2 and Portal running fine on his ATI Radeon 9600Pro. Since I'd be a little worried the slot not being able to produce enough power to some of the higher end cards, The aforementioned 9600PRO would probably be your best bet in terms of reliability and performance for a decent price. The 256MB version of this card will run you from $40-$75 USD through eBay and the like, and should work fine for your system.

Which agp 4x video card is better and where can i buy them in asia or philippines?

Which of the following video card is better:

1. 7600 GS 256mb AGP

2.7600 GT 512mb AGP

3.7300 GT 512mb AGP

4.Radeon X800GTO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X

,and for the first 3, can they be fitted to an AGP 4x Slot?

Also can any of these be run with the P4S533-X ASUS mobo?

Choose only among the 4|||number 2 is the best one of those cards. and yes it will work in an agp slot. the 4x or 8x is only the speed of it. as to where you can get it. i have no idea.|||Do you really want to use AGP? Kinda outdated hardware...i would suggest checking Ebay for something like that . I would look for a PCI express card they are much better graphics cards.|||a PCI express would require changing the whole mainboard, which is pricey i guess

Besides. Those video cards are so slow no amount of overclocking can increase it's performance.

When a video card says its interface is agp 4x/8x, will it work with a motherboard which says only agp 8x?

i have an asus pfs800d-x motherboard which has a agp 8x video interface. i'm trying to buy a new video card and was wondering if a video card that says 4x/8x (specifically, SAPPHIRE 100198L Radeon X1650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card) will be compatible with my motherboard.|||Yo, since your motherboard says 8x then it can only take 8x cards. But, your graphics card will work because the 8x/4x means that it can operate at these two speeds.|||Yes.|||yes it can switch between a max 8x and min 4x.|||that means it'll fit a 4x or 8x agp slot, so the answer is yes

Is it possible to insert a video card that is 8X to a 4X AGP port?

I buy new video card that is 8X, is it compatible to run with a AGP 4X port.|||Yes it will run just fine, all 8x AGP cards are backwards compatible with 4x slots.|||I believe so, but it will only run at 4X speeds.|||only if your agp port on mb has no plastic holders in the middle. Some agp port are set only for 4X or 8X and if you try to put another kind of agp in ther it will not enter.|||YES, mysticman is right.

The fast high end cards like 7900GS AGP, X1950 Pro AGP or 7950GT AGP would, however be bottlenecked/slowed down by that 4x AGP port. ATI 9600 Pro or Geforce 7300GT AGP should work out fine and may not require a power supply upgrade.

Is a riva tnt 2 model 64 32 mb agp 4x card enough for web browsing, office stuff and general things?

You can get a decent model for under $500.

Video card for Desktop PC - NVidia Vs Radeon, I have Radeon 4x 64mb video card on my motherboard?

My motherboard supports agp 2.0 4x video cards. Currently, I have a radeon 64mb card.

- will it be fine if i installed a nvidia 256mb agp 8x/4x card or will only a radeon card work?

- if either is fine which is preferred. I have an intel pentium 4 processor

thanks.|||cant see why not!!!! suck it and see|||Any AGP card (4x or better) should be just fine - to be sure, check with your motherboard manufacturer or PC builder. There is a difference with AGP2x I believe relating to power.|||older video cards used 3.3 volts but newer ones use 1.5 volts. Some motherboards support both but if you have a 64mb radeon with 4x then I would guess you have 1.5v.

Most 256mb cards will be 4x or 8x and will slot in perfectly to replace your old card.

ATI vs nVidia is down to what you want and how much you want to spend. nVidia seem to have cards in the low, medium and hiigh end whereas ATI only really have low and high.

Personally, I have ATI Radeon 9800xt and that's really good and is rock solid but puts out a lot of heat. You may need to invest in better cooling for your PC if you're moving up the video card market.

Pick what games you want to play, find the supported cards and then see what you can afford. Most cards don't really run well on 8x so 4x is just as good.

Also, if you have a low-end P4 (under 2ghz) you'd probably be better getting a CPU upgrade too as a brilliant graphics card will be held up by a slow processor. Also, get good RAM and lots of it.

Hope this helps.|||As long as its agp like you said your motherboard supports.

You can do that.

What you can't do is put agp in pci express or pci in pci-express

What are some of the best video cards out there that support my specs. preferably within the $100 - $150 range.|||I like it when people give price ranges, makes it easier. I would recommend this one, looks very good and in your price range:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

They have a X1650 in your price range, but I personally prefer the one I suggested, a lot more memory bandwidth.|||Pricegrabber.com try it after you go to a nivida/ati site and find the best one for your Bus. I would go with apg 8x. But good

luck trying to find any that are new they are all moving to PCIe.|||First off, do not purchase a PCI video card.

They barely give any performance boost and is not in production and hard to find.

Second, I believe your board can only handle an AGP card so go to www.newegg.com and look at what they have to offer.

Last, if you have the money, buy a motherboard that supports PCI-Express.

It is twice as fast as AGP 8x and the cards are very cheap.

I recently purchased a Sapphire 1600xt for about $115 and is awesome. For ~$200 you can get a very high end card.

Good Luck!

=D|||AGP is and has just about been replaced with PCI!

Don't buy old technology.|||you're in luck. I personally hate agp cards and the fact that they still sell them when they don't perform as well as their nerwer pci-e counterparts and they cost more too. But get this card.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

It fits your price range and is probably one of the best agp cards you can get, even diregarding your price range. It is recommended that you have at least a 300-350W power supply

especially if you have a fully loaded system. Get it you won't be sorry. BTW I'm an nVidia fan myself but I still know whats good.|||well now... how do I put it litely?.. Ur not going to find one thats good enough for gaming for that price unless u ebay it. I bought one 3 days ago off there that's 1 gig:]|||xxxplalmxxx is right. The X1650 Pro is the best AGP card in your price range. It's as fast as the X1600XT in this review: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/vie…

Now, the X850 Pro is fast also, but, it leaves a few things to be desired. For instance, it isn't DirectX 9.0C compatible, it's a 9.0B card. It also can't handle SM 3.0, it's a 2.0 card. It also can't do HDR. All of this means that the X1650 Pro is the best cheap AGP gaming card on the market.|||if you go to crucial.com and ask them to scan your system it will tell you your memory and also if you look at the tabs it will suggest a suitable craphics card at least 3 differant types

Can i use a agp 8x video card in a agp 4x slot?

I believe i can but i'm just making sure. if you would like to be of even more help i have an n1996 motherboard in a non-name brand computer. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Can i use the card in addition to my integrated graphics, and/or could i use a pci card?|||You can use an 8X AGP card in a 4X slot but it will only run X4 of course. Just be sure that, if the machine is old that it doesn't have an old 3.3 volt AGP slot because if it does and you plug a 1.5 volt AGP card into it it's bye bye video card.|||lol dude if its from 1996 i would buy another motherboard that i would know for sure i could use an AGP 8x here's a good website www.pricewatch.com

Will a 4X/8X AGP Video card work to replace my 4x Geforce 3 video card?

I understand that the NEW AGP cards that are 8X WILL not work in my MB that is 4X But I don't understand about the new 4x/8x AGP cards will they work ?|||If your Motherboard has a AGP 4x Slot, then you can go out and buy a 8x AGP card like

Nvidia Geforce 5700,5950,6200,6600,6800,7300 or ATi 9550,9600,9700,9800 - which are pretty good for gaming. The only thing is that these 8X AGp cards will work at 4x speed which is 16.5 Gbps, where using them on a 8X AGP slot will result in 64.3 Gbps. They will work but at a slower speed thats all. Try getting an AGP that has a 128 bit memory, this will give you a good performance boost.|||sure it will work on ur motherboard , according to your motherboard agp speed if its 4x and ur card is 8x ur card will work as 4x hope u got it right , it will work|||I agree with the other guy, It will work, provided that: your motherboard's AGP slot will acommodate the card (without folding it in half or using a hack saw to trim it) and you have the correct drivers. however, like he said, since your machine's motherboard will only support cards that run at 4x speed, make sure before you buy a card that it's backward compatible with older systems. Keep in mind that even if it is, it'll only be running at half the speed it was designed for, though it won't harm the new card or your computer, you may or may not see a performance boost. Go for a card that has at least 256mb video ram, or more if you can afford it. and be sure to download the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website after you install the card, or you may see bugs start happening, crashes, unexplained restarts, freezes, or weird display images. these can all usually be fixed with a driver update, as the cards are released with the version of the software that was current at the time. if you buy a card that was made a year ago, the software that came with it is a year old, and a year buggier. the drivers are a free download, and if they're not, you're getting screwed.

hope this helps

Video Card Recommendation Needed - 256MB AGP 4X?

My PC is a Pentium 3 with 512 RAM and a Intel 815EP Motherboard, which is AGP 4X (my video card is a Geforce 2 GTS 32MB). Can I use a AGP8x 128/256 MB with that PC?|||yes but it will only run at 4x not 8x|||no, u can not use agp 8x mode.|||Nope, but it works the other way aroud!|||I dont think you can. Can I use an AGP 8x on my computer's AGP 4x slot for my video card?

I'm shopping for a new video card. My PC's motherboard has an AGP 4x slot. I see lots of video cards that say 4x / 8x, but some that only say 8x. I'm not sure if I can buy an 8x for my 4x slot. Also, if I can't buy an 8x for my slot, then what makes the 4x / 8x cards able to fit in both? Thanks.|||Maybe some 8x cards are designed to be able to clock down to 4x, some are not. Many times it will say whether or not this is possible right on the box. In all respects the motherboard or 8x card should not be damaged by attempting this, the worst that will happen is it wont work.

Best AGP 4X video card under 70 bucks?

I know, I know, agp is pretty outdated, but I mainly just enjoy playing older games on this system, and the rest of the PC isn't so much of a powerhouse as most out there today, in any case. A 128mb would suit me just fine, anything more would be out of place and overkill. Anything better than a Geforce2 MX400. :)

Thanks in advance.|||agp8x also works agp4x but at a reduced bandwidth i believe so you could use those cards as well. for your budget how about radeon 9600 pro 256mb. cheap ones are 50 - 60. for even less i see geforce f5500 128mb at tiger direct for 34 bucks|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

you have an old northwood based PC.

instead of buying a new videocard (becuase it WONT do much, if anything for your current pc) i would seriously just start thinking about buying a newer pc and just putting a decent videocard into that.

PCI-express overtook agp as a default slot for videocards, and you wont have much luck looking for AGP cards anymore.

if you DO find one, yes it will work, an 8x card will run at 4x for a 4x motherboard. as for system requirements?? there isnt any. just install the software.

i hope your not expecting to play any games, you will be sorely disapointed with that celeron and that little RAM|||You should look if the card needs external power.

But I saw a lot of mainboards that are not fully compatible with the new AGP Cards.

So, try to buy the videocard from a store that let's you give it back in 10 days.|||There are no other system requirments. If you have an AGP 8X slot then you can install the card.|||Joseph is correct. I wouldn't dream of spending good money to add anything to that machine. You'd be miles ahead by getting a new computer.

Can an AGP 4X / 8X card work on an AGP 2X / 4X motherboard?

I gave my old PC to my bro in law and he wants to upgrade the video card. Can an AGP 4X / 8X card work on an AGP 2X / 4X motherboard?|||It may or may not run.

AGP 2.0 (4x/2x/1x) uses 1.5 Volts and AGP 3.0 (8x/4x/2x/1x) uses 0.8 Volts. There is a chance that the video card with support both voltages but most likely the voltage difference between the two standards will cause you problems (instability at the very least).|||Yes but it will run at the 2x/4x speed.

would you say this is a good video card for gaming? maybe games like oblivion, Age of Empires 3, or WoW?|||It should be fine for AOE3 and WoW, but it will suck for oblivion if you want eye candy.|||gaming VGA card for me is, first, using PCIe slot not AGP (bandwidth reason, PCIe-16x 2.0 has twice bandwidth available than PCIe-16x 1.0 and4 times than AGP8x), second is using GDDR3 or 4 memory type, more higher more better.

yes you can still play those games tough, but i can't say that is good gaming video card.

There is NO graphics card yet that draws 30 amps (360W). Even the 8800 Ultra in SLI draw only 21 amps. How many GHz does the MSI NX6600-VTD256 Geforce 6600 256MB 128-bit DDR VIVO AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail?

How many GHz does the MSI NX6600-VTD256 Geforce 6600 256MB 128-bit DDR VIVO AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail run at?

I would like to know because I couldn't find out the amount on newegg.|||Core clock is 300Mhz standard. Some video cards come with the clock overclocked, but I doubt it on this one.|||That's kinda weird, MSI is only listing the RAMDACs @ 400MHz, I don't see the GPU. You can google coolbits and install it. It will give you the speeds and ability to overclock under Display > Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce tabs, you will then see clock settings.

Newegg does have the specs, 300MHz GPU, 500MHz memory.|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… here it is 130$

Does Diablotek Geforce2 MX 400 Video Card - 64MB DDR, AGP 4x, VGA, Video Card work for fable?

I recently bought fable but didn't have a good video card so I've been looking online and the Fable case says it needs a 64mb shader capable 3D card. Does this card have shader capability?

Again: Diablotek Geforce2 MX 400 Video Card - 64MB DDR, AGP 4x, VGA, Video Card|||Barely -

You're going to have to crank down the resolution and visual effects.

The card supports shader model 1.1 according to the online shops and forums that I've checked.

You're going to want to make sure that the rest of your system is up to par with the specs as well, I've played Fable on a GeForce 5200FX and that was pretty sketchy.

EDIT found something on the page in the "Unsupported Video Hardware Section"

GeForce2 MX, looks to me like it is unsupported so you will probably need to upgrade your video card with a PCI model, I'm not sure if it's still worth it to get an AGP one at the prices they're asking.|||that 64 megabyte is a bare minimum

you should get something that has at least 128mb of ram and yes almost all gfx cards these days are shader capable

Video card ASUS AH3450/HTP/256M Radeon HD 3450 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X?

is this type of video card only for windows vista, I check the description on websites and saw only vista. Can it be use on xp.|||That just means that its certified by the manufacturer to work on Vista but will also work on Xp since everything always gets certified on Xp first.

Can I run a 8x AGP video card in a 4x AGP?

I was thinking about getting a better graphic card so I can play Sims 3. I was looking at a Radeon HD 2600 card, and it says AGP 8x, but I have a 4x port. Can I put it in the 4x port and still work, or will I have to do anything? Thanks.|||Yes you can, however there will be a small performance decrease because not all pins will be connected. The performance drop is not much though and upgrading would be a good idea.

Hi can anyone help me what is the difference between a video card with agp 4x slot and a agp 8x slot?

i have a computer with a accelerated graphics port agp 4x slot and i found a video card with agp 8x slot will that work or is there a difference|||Most all AGP8X cards will work fine in an AGP4X slot, but performance will suffer from the slower bus speed.|||Hi. The slots are identical, but one operates at twice the speed of a 4x.|||Yes the 8x card is backwards compatible with the 4x slot. It should work fine.
