Can i use a agp 8x video card in a agp 4x slot?

I believe i can but i'm just making sure. if you would like to be of even more help i have an n1996 motherboard in a non-name brand computer. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Can i use the card in addition to my integrated graphics, and/or could i use a pci card?|||You can use an 8X AGP card in a 4X slot but it will only run X4 of course. Just be sure that, if the machine is old that it doesn't have an old 3.3 volt AGP slot because if it does and you plug a 1.5 volt AGP card into it it's bye bye video card.|||lol dude if its from 1996 i would buy another motherboard that i would know for sure i could use an AGP 8x here's a good website www.pricewatch.com
