Can i put an 8x video card with a 128 mb to a 4x agp slot?

i have an ECS P4vmm2 motherboard, i want to upgrade my graphics since im using the built-in video card, i bought a 128mb AGP video card with a 8x speed, is it possible to run it smoothly on my AGP slot with only 4x of the speed? or will my AGP slot overheat and burn it?|||sure u can put it in a 4x slot since all cards are backward compatible..only thing is that the card will work at 4x speed not 8x..dont worry as far as AGP slot overheating is concerned...|||Look at this:

As I understand it, if the card fits, you can do that, and it will probably fit.|||Sure, you will just not get the *x performance that you want!!|||Well, first, what voltage is it!!! A guy in our PC shop blew up a NEW ASUS board AND the AGP Card, doing just that!!!
